As I worked on this piece, I learned a great deal about the nuances of shading and patina. My initial attempts resulted in colors that were too intense, giving the drawing an unnatural appearance. However, after three attempts, I finally achieved the desired result. The final drawing is striking, with toning that is as accurate as you'll find anywhere.
I'm extremely proud of this piece, and it's one of my personal favorites. This artwork captures the essence and unique story of the 1861-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar, a coin minted in New Orleans under the authority of the Confederate States of America.
