“Golden Legacy: The 1847 Pacific Company California $1”
"Golden Legacy: The 1847 Pacific Company California $1" is a vibrant full-color depiction of a coin from the California Gold Rush. As the artist, I am deeply honored to have had the opportunity to draw this extremely rare and historically significant coin.
The story behind this coin is truly remarkable. The owner inherited it from her grandfather, a bus driver in San Francisco, who had been given the coin by someone who thought it was a bus token. Unbeknownst to them, it was actually a rare fractional currency piece from the 1800s. After being initially met with skepticism by a coin dealer, the owner eventually found a reputable dealer, Allen Rowe, who helped her navigate the sale of this numismatic treasure.
I am thrilled to have been a part of preserving the legacy of this coin through my artwork. This piece intricately details the 1847 Pacific Company California $1, symbolizing the early days of gold fever and American pioneering spirit. Each stroke in this full-color drawing reflects a deep reverence for the craftsmanship and artistry of mid-19th-century American coinage.
