"The Rarest Gem: The 1879 Coiled Hair Stella" is a vivid full-color depiction of a highly coveted coin. As an artist and numismatist, I can attest that this coin is a true rarity, with only a handful of examples known to exist. I've had the privilege of encountering only a few collectors who have owned an example of this coin, making it a true gem in the world of numismatics.

When creating this drawing, I took some artistic liberties to enhance the overall aesthetic. At the scale at which I draw, a small spot of toning on the coin's field became noticeable. While it wasn't obtrusive at regular scale, I chose to omit it from the final drawing to preserve the coin's elegance.

This artwork intricately details the 1879 Coiled Hair Stella, celebrated for its rarity and exquisite design. I meticulously rendered the elegant features of Liberty with her coiled hair, and the intricate star on the reverse. Each stroke in this full-color drawing reflects a profound respect for the craftsmanship and artistry of late 19th-century American coinage.

These signed and numbered limited-edition prints are part of a series of numismatic artworks created by Robert Julian. Each print is carefully crafted to capture the essence of these historic coins. About polished aluminum Prints

Our polished aluminum prints are crafted using an innovative process that infuses dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image becomes part of the surface, rather than sitting on top of it, the result is an almost magical luminescence.

Built to last, the ultra-hard, scratch-resistant surface is both waterproof and weatherproof, allowing for effortless cleaning and care. While these prints thrive in well-lit spaces, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight—just as you would with any fine art piece.
