"The Spirit of the Frontier: The 1913 Indian Head Nickel" is a captivating portrayal of one of America's most beloved and historically significant coins. This early artwork of mine holds a special place in my heart, as it was one of my first monochrome drawings, crafted using a range of blacks, whites, and grays.

What drew me to this coin was its exceptional striking and strong details, but it was the subtle signs of wear and deterioration that truly captured my imagination. The dies were beginning to break down, resulting in heavy flow lines in the fields and a softening of the center of the obverse. This unique combination of textures and tones gave the coin a rustic, weathered feel that I felt was perfectly suited to this iconic American numismatic treasure.

As an artist, I sought to capture the essence of this remarkable coin, from the noble profile of the Native American on the obverse to the majestic buffalo on the reverse. Each element of the drawing reflects a deep appreciation for the artistry and historical context of this piece.

This drawing is more than a visual representation; it is a celebration of the American spirit and the rich history of the early 20th century. The 1913 Indian Head Nickel, designed by James Earle Fraser, symbolizes the nation's westward expansion and the enduring legacy of its indigenous peoples.

    About polished aluminum Prints

Our polished aluminum prints are crafted using an innovative process that infuses dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image becomes part of the surface, rather than sitting on top of it, the result is an almost magical luminescence.

Built to last, the ultra-hard, scratch-resistant surface is both waterproof and weatherproof, allowing for effortless cleaning and care. While these prints thrive in well-lit spaces, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight—just as you would with any fine art piece.
