"Elegance in Copper: The 1879 Washlady Quarter" is a breathtaking full-color tribute to one of America's rarest and most admired coins. As the artist, I must admit that this piece presented a unique set of challenges. The shades of iridescent green on the reflective fields proved particularly difficult to duplicate, and I found myself taking a more artistic approach to capture the essence of this stunning coin.

While this drawing may not be a perfectly realistic representation of the original copper coin, I'm thrilled with the final results. By emphasizing shades of blue and subtly incorporating green, I've created a piece that's both visually striking and uniquely interpretive. The copper tones, though challenging to capture, add a sense of warmth and depth to the drawing.

I'm delighted with how this piece looks when framed and matted, and I'm confident that it will be a beautiful addition to any collection. This artwork captures the elegance and historical importance of the 1879 Washlady Quarter, showcasing Charles Barber's exquisite design. Each detail in this full-color drawing reflects a profound appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship of late 19th-century American coinage.

    About polished aluminum Prints

Our polished aluminum prints are crafted using an innovative process that infuses dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image becomes part of the surface, rather than sitting on top of it, the result is an almost magical luminescence.

Built to last, the ultra-hard, scratch-resistant surface is both waterproof and weatherproof, allowing for effortless cleaning and care. While these prints thrive in well-lit spaces, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight—just as you would with any fine art piece.
