"Pioneering Spirit: The 1921 Missouri Commemorative Half Dollar" (Version 2) is a vibrant full-color portrayal of a coin that celebrates the centennial of Missouri's statehood. As the artist, I'm excited to share that this piece is what I call an "embellishment" – a unique process where I take an existing monochrome drawing and overlay different colors to create a custom color palette.
In this case, I worked closely with a customer to recreate the exact coloration of their 1921 Missouri Commemorative Half Dollar. By using my existing monochrome drawing as a foundation, I was able to save the customer 50% off a traditional commission. The result is a stunningly accurate representation of the customer's coin, complete with intricate details and even the scratches on the obverse.
This artwork captures the historical significance of the 1921 Missouri Commemorative Half Dollar, issued to mark the 100th anniversary of Missouri's admission to the Union. Each stroke in this full-color drawing reflects a deep reverence for the craftsmanship and artistry of early 20th-century American coinage.
